Advanced Services\' Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform Release 8.0 Basic v1 (MSTP R8)
Who Should Attend
This course is intended for network professionals responsible for installation, deployment, and maintenance of the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP. Network operations, planners, and designers will also benefit.
Prerequisites
- Routing fundamentals and IP addressing
- Introduction to Cisco Networking Devices (ICND) or equivalent
- Familiarity with the Cisco ONS 15454 family
- Knowledge of SONET or SDH structure and hierarchy
- Knowledge of DWDM basics
- Experience using optical test equipment
Course Objectives
In this intense four-day course you learn the skills necessary to deploy a multiservice transport platform (MSTP) network, including fiber-cleaning techniques, fiber test requirements, and node turn-up. You will learn to deploy different dense wavelengthdivision multiplexing (DWDM) topologies using Cisco® Transport Planner to provision the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP). The MSTP Basic course is designed to give you significant classroom hands-on time to validate the lessons learned in lecture using the comprehensive classroom hardware and labs.
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Connect and configure a Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP chassis
- Identify node configurations according to card population
- Characterize the role of Cisco Transport Planner in turning up an MSTP network
- Provision DWDM circuits using Cisco Transport Controller
- Perform performance monitoring, alarm verification, and fault isolation
- Isolate "optical" network issues
