  • Individuals who want to earn the SNIA Storage Networking Professional Certification

Prerequisites


There are no formal prerequisites, however participants will gain the most from this if they have a fundamental knowledge of:
  • Traditional or networked storage technologies
  • LAN/WAN solutions

Course Objectives


Foundation provides an introduction to storage networking concepts, technologies and solutions. Attendees will explore fundamental storage concepts, disk technology, storage architectures, storage management and storage networking protocols such as SCSI, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, FCIP and iFCP. Key solutions will be presented, which addresses data sharing, Networked Attached Storage (NAS), disaster recovery preparation, extended SANs, business continuity, backup and recovery, and storage consolidation. After completing this course, attendees will be well-prepared to attend more advanced courses on storage networking solutions and implementation, as well as courses which address specific technologies.

  • Understand NAS protocol and backup details
  • Discuss iSCSI protocol detail and implementation
  • Explore SAN Extension techniques, implementation requirements and relevant applications
  • Discuss Storage Networking Security Management needs and solutions
  • Probe Data Protection methodologies
  • Define the need, history and function of SMI-S
  • Identify the steps involved in Storage Resource Management
  • Review the topics and technical level of knowledge tested in the SNIA Foundation examination
