ACE Operations and Configuration (ACEOC)
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for systems engineers and network architects who need to design or deploy server load-balancing solutions using the Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE) module
Prerequisites
You will gain the most from this course if you have a basic understanding of the following topics:
- TCP/IP protocol
- HTTP and SSL protocols
- N-tier application architecture
- Server load-balancing
Course Objectives
After you complete this course, you will be able to:
- Describe how the advanced application delivery services provided by the ACE module are used to enhance application performance, scalability, and reliability
- Describe the configuration and management tasks needed to successfully deploy an ACE module
- Explain how to use the ACE module to control traffic in layers 2, 3, and 4 of the network Describe the ACE functions that are used to perform load balancing for layers 4 and 7
- Explain how the layer 7 processing capabilities of the ACE module are used to maintain session persistence and provide protocol inspection
- Explain how to deploy the ACE module in a high availability configuration that supports failover and state replication
Course Content
ACE Operations and Configuration is a 3-day, instructor-led, lecture/lab course. You will learn how to deploy and configure intelligent network services using the Catalyst 6500 Application Control Engine (ACE). This course covers all of the key features of the ACE module, including resource virtualization and management, server load balancing (Layer 2-4 and Layer 7), SSL termination and offload, and security features like application-layer inspection and fixups.
